Avalanche Clinch West; Kings win, Golden Knights are defeated

Saturday’s best NHL players

Mike Smith, Oilers

Look at the final score (4-0 for Oilers) և you can charge the Golden Knights for not playing in the big game.

Whether the Golden Knights certainly wanted them or not, Mike Smith played a significant role in Oilers’ closing of those two points. The veteran goalkeeper hit 39 saves on his second goose egg during the up and down season.

Mike Smith’s savings percentage rose to 0.911 this season, just a shadow below his career average of 912.

Nikita Kucherov / Victor Hedman, Lightning

At one point, the Jets were 4-2 ahead of Lightning. Tampa Bay eventually won (wait for that) 7-4. Yes.

There is no big surprise here, but Nikita Kucherov and Victor Hedman played a big role in that victory. Kucherov scored two goals and two assists, bringing the total point of his season to 51 in 40 games. Kucherov has two points out of 600, which leaves him comfortable in one game (598 points in 555 career games).

Thanks to four assists, Victor Hedman has scored 72 points in 75 games this season. Another և he will set a new high level of career. In 2021-22, he was overshadowed by more explosive defenders, but it should be noted that the statistics underlying him have improved from last year’s relative struggle.

Judging by the xSPAR (Expected Ratings Above Replacement) chart of his career in Emerging Hockey, this may not be just a turning point for Victor Hedman. This, in a sense, could be his best year yet.

<em>Surprisingly, <a class=Cale Makar:xSPAR is over 10 this season. (Via Evolving Hockey)“data-src =” https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/4.POO79gkLWnaLfMB5XmRw–/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTgwMA–/https://s.yimgi//u 1.2 /[Usage]

Anthony Manta / Dmitry Orlov, Capitals

Like Kucherov and Hedman, the Capitals made a lot of attacks thanks to the four-point games of striker (Anthony Manta) and defender (Dmitry Orlov).

Manta, like Kucherov, got there with two goals and two assists. Thus, Manta leaves 21 points in 30 games this season. If Manta can give more points to the capitals, then, well, East is already ridiculously overburdened. Why not keep filling it?

With three assists, Orlov set a new career record with 34 points from 69 games this season. The previous record of his career was 33 points, which was set in 2016-17.

Johnny Godroe / Matthew Tkachuk, Flames

Hey, one pair of teammates scores four points. Both Johnny Godrod and Matthew Tkachuk scored two goals and two assists when Flames left the Coyotes in the ashes. Another day at the office?

Highlights of the NHL on Saturday

Braden Shann scored a goal in extra time, helping the “blues” to win a playoff ticket.

Alexis Lafrenier made a huge, video game deke button-style move to score this back-to-back goal in Rangers’ win.

Mattie Beniers, the second choice in the 2021 NHL Draft, scored his first NHL goal.

During the NHL rally on Saturday, the capitals earned a ton, և this Yevgeny Kuznetsov helps Alex Ovechkin was probably the most tempting indicator.

Not far from the NCAA competition, Ben Myers scored his first NHL goal in the Hurricanes-Avalanche game with high points.

Saturday NHL Takeaways:

Blues, Flame, Bruins reach the playoffs; In the west, the avalanche took first place

According to the grand scheme of things, the last places of the playoffs of the Western Conference are the only ones that are really suspicious. In addition, the playoff pushes are mainly about positioning.

However, if teams are afraid to count the chickens before they leave, a few eggs in the NHL crackled on Saturday.

  • It was not the biggest story of the Oilers defeating the Golden Knights, but that defeat by Vegas confirmed that the Calgary Flames had reached the playoffs.

  • By defeating Wild in the OT, the Blues won their place in the playoffs.

  • After being crushed by the Penguins, the Browns advanced to the NFL play-offs on Saturday.

  • Finally, the Avalanche are the champions of your Western Conference. The only scenario where they will not have a home ice advantage in any series is: a) if it’s the 2022 Stanley Cup final և b) if the Panthers win the Presidents’ Cup over an avalanche. Kings expand lead over Golden Knights in key West Playoff playoff race

In the race for third place in the Pacific Division, the “Golden Knights” had the opportunity to gain an advantage over the Kinger. (This is more and more like the main Vegas route to the playoffs, period).

Everything seemed better for the Golden Knights than it was after a while compared to the kings who went to the NHL on Saturday. It turned upside down again with the latest results.

First, the oilmen defeated the Golden Knights 4-0. The Blue Jackets then fought a decisive battle against the Kings, but Los Angeles won the regulation.

With that, the Kings now have a three-point advantage (90-87) over the Golden Knights. The “Golden Knights” are no exception, keep in mind that they have a game in hand (six games left in Vegas, five left for the Kings).

The “Kings” and the “Golden Knights” do not clash anymore in the regular season! During the NHL games on Saturday, both elements went to Los Angeles

Rangers – The Hurricanes’ fight for the subway title is very lively

After Saturday’s NHL games, the Rangers and Hurricanes now have 104 points, with six games left on the schedule. While the Hurricanes have an advantage in regular / extra wins (47-45), the Rangers have a real chance of winning the Metropolitan Division title.

Your mileage may vary depending on how well you look for matches. Penguins տեղ There is room for the Capitals to take up positions, one of which becomes the third generation of the subway, and the other takes the place of the wild card. The Browns could jump on the second instead of the first place card.

With the Panthers almost certain to take the top spot in the East, the Metropolitan Division champion would mean a higher Wild-card team. This will be the Browns right now. It is not an easy task.

But beyond the natural inclination to compete, winning the division means blocking at least two rounds of home-ice advantage. Both Rangers and Storm Travel Well (New York Wins One Game at Home [25] than on the road [24]), it’s not a bad thing to pursue.

Side note. The Hurricanes should hope that Frederick Andersen will avoid a serious injury. He looked shocked when he left Saturday’s defeat to Colorado.

Severe Injury News for Penguins (Tsar) և Kanuks (Croatia)

Leaving the game for the penguins can be the biggest frustration. Coach Mike Sullivan has announced that Tristan Jarre will be sidelined for weeks due to a lower back injury. Week after week, of course, leaves everything cloudy for the access to the Jarry playoffs, it is possible that the responsibilities will be left to Casey Desmith.

Frankly, it’s hard to imagine Canucks actually staying in the mix, but Bo Horvat is also expected to miss at least two weeks.

Great story for Sunday

Panthers try to stay close to Avalanche in 10 consecutive presidential cup races

It is really interesting that this season develops the theme of “the rich get rich”. (At least in terms of hockey, everything is based on merit.)

This idea is often drawn to individual performances. Conor McDavid, Roman Josie, Kale Maccar, Oston Matthews, Igor Shesterkin – many other superstars present incredible, sometimes historical figures.

The absolute best teams are also relevant to this theme. Some may look at the eight playoff sets of the Archelian Conference, all of which have been designated as one token for some time. But it is also extreme with the best of the best.

With their ninth victory in a row, Avalanche defeated the strong team of Hurricanes. The Blues are in a winning streak of eight games, while the Maple Leafs are 8-1-1 in the last 10. Oilers can simply knock on that elite door, winning the last 10 games 8-1-1. also.

So maybe that’s why the Panthers’s powerful run should compete in the spotlight. Going on Sunday, the Panthers are the winning streak of nine games. They will be strong favorites to beat the Red Wings for the 10th time in a row, especially since Detroit played on Saturday.

If the Panthers extend that winning streak to 10 games, they will be two points behind the advance of the Presidential Cup. The top of the NHL really looks like the undisputed elite.
